Biography

 

Abel Romero is a national security analyst specializing in ballistic missile defense and nuclear nonproliferation. Mr. Romero previously served as the Director of Government Relations at the Missile Defense Advocacy Alliance (MDAA). Mr. Romero work with MDAA allowed him to interact with, and inform the United States Congress and others on issues relating to the development and deployment of U.S. ballistic missile defense technology. 


Mr. Romero was the editor and co-author of MDAA’s U.S. Ballistic Missile Defense, a comprehensive overview of America’s global missile shield. Mr. Romero also initiated and managed MDAA’s Congressional Roundtable Discussion Series. This program invites national security experts including members of Congress, military officers, foreign diplomats and the think tank community to discuss issues related to missile defense on Capitol Hill. Mr. Romero’s commentary and analysis has been published by  publications such asDefense News and RealClearDefense.  


Earlier in his career, Mr. Romero worked on Capitol Hill, and at the National Nuclear Security Administration. He holds a master of science degree in defense and strategic studies from Missouri State University’s Defense and Strategic Studies program in Fairfax, Virginia. In 2011, he received a bachelor’s degree in political science from McMurry University in Abilene, Texas.
